..........It's clear that a totalitarian state is going to come to the U.S. someday and sooner rather than later. The question to ask is why would "they" need or want to do this? All the signs are pointing to the earth being bled dry like those scenes of moose or caribou having their blood drained by gigantic mosquitoes of the north. The earth is staggering right now or possibly on her knees. Vital elements to support life and "our way of life [that] is non-negotiable" are in decline. The earth is on the critical list. Just last year the Walrus magazine had a fantastic article on Canada's vast water supply and the great U.S. thirst. They described the long planned diversion of rivers flowing north into the arctic and the plan to turn them around, sending them south to the increasingly thirsty U.S. What would your neighbor south do if your government said the big NO? What does the Mafia do? Start breaking some legs. We'd get your water.
..........Global petroleum production is clearly peaking or, as some have predicted, is past peak. That vital energy source is going to be less and less available world-wide. This is a geological fact. NAFTA guarantees that Canada must export 60%, I believe, of your petroleum energy south. Go ahead, tell Uncle Sam no more exports of energy when you finally figure out that your supply is running out, and you'll quickly find that quoting Ralph Klein's famous "Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark" is meaningless.
..........Recently, it has been reported that China is desperate for iron to feed the maw of its industrial mega-monster and is securing petroleum agreements with oil producers all over the planet. This kind of mindless desperation can't go on. We may have actually reached the terminal end of Malthus' dreaded prediction. Yet, if every country got on-board we might have a chance to downshift the world, but you know that ain't gonna happen, so it's "Let the herd stampede over the cliff while we have another smoke."
..........A concept that I first heard while researching the peak oil issue is called "Demand Destruction." If you destroy the demand, the limited supply will last much longer—the greater the destruction of demand, the longer the resource will last. This concept meant that regarding petroleum, you create more railways, better gas mileage cars, etc. and demand for fuel will decline. However, for my argument here, I'm going to say that the invisible "they" will want to make it more all encompassing. It would be more efficient to eliminate masses of Kissinger's "useless eaters," meaning us. Remember the famous Dr. Doom who wants to eliminate 90% of humans? Gigantic mass murder would be the perfect demand destruction technique if you could somehow make it work.
..........For a totalitarian state to work in the U.S. or anywhere else, you would need to have the masses not merely accepting it, but demanding it as they hug their chains like those scenes of deprived monkey infants clutching rag dolls. The only way that I can see this being a success would be to release some sort of either biological or chemical weapon in a medium-sized city from time to time, blaming the act on the enemy of the day—Iran is the current front runner. Or the much touted "Bird Flu" danger that would make Rumsfeld's former company very rich. To be really effective, you'd need to slaughter hundreds of thousands at a time for the maximum fear factor—losing whole city populations and making the 9/11 slaughter look like a mere car accident. The deadly substance would be some cocktail that doesn't have an antidote—at least for us, the Proles. First here, then later over there, then a new spot a few weeks later. This would create the massive panic of uncertainty. The Proles would be shouting, "Keep the sick encircled. Don't let them out!!! Create checkpoints to the entrances to our city!!! Don't let them sneak in!! Save us!! Kill the (enemy of the day inserted here)." Who would have thought they would manufacture 9/11, but they did that. Can this scene be far behind?
..........Then there are the camps, the hundreds of Oliver North-created concentration FEMA camps that each can hold between 10,000-15,000 souls. With a minimum of 800 camps—not counting the Haliburton ones just recently contracted and the revamping of the 10 or 12 Japanese camps—that's a minimum of 8 million people that could be locked up. Why would they be locked up? Well, an excuse could be that they're infected and this way they can be isolated. Or those people that don't want the "antidote" might be put there as a way to keep them in isolation "for their own good." Then there's the question of what to do with those others-people on "the lists" like the no-fly lists—troublemakers, the ones that have FBI files with their pictures or NSA Internet surfing profiles, radicals demanding democracy, justice, and their damned "rights." Those on the "lists" might get a visit at 4:00 am and have their front door knocked down by men in moon suits, falsely accused of being infected and taken to the camps where the sick are receiving no treatment and dying en mass. This could be the Zyklon B for the resistance. Perhaps their houses would be torched for the 6:00 evening news to frighten those Americans with televised minds-a sort of micro-9/11 for local consumption. Talking head reporter: "A CDC spokesman stated that burning down the house was the only known way of containing the spread of the virus." Seventy houses were allowed to burn to the ground in Philadelphia to kill off the MOVE members, or, as the Fire Commissioner said, "Let the bunker burn," and burn it did—for over ninety minutes. There's always a previous history to which you can return, a dry run. If you had a choice of taking the inoculation or having your house burned to the ground, what would you do? That's called "Motivation."
..........But wouldn't that be stupid—to release a deadly virus? Aren't viruses uncontrollable? Of course, but then you have to remember that these are not sane people. These are psychopaths, people without consciences, without senses of guilt, the walking dead who are in charge. If this seems "out there," get a copy of law professor Francis A. Boyle's book Biowarfare and Terrorism. In it, Boyle describes the totally illegal government-sponsored contracts with hundreds of universities and private businesses to create biological and chemical weapons. These people are eligible for sentences of up to life in prison for doing this work, but, same as with the Iraq war, nothing is going to be done. As Boyle chillingly states, "With this much research going on, can WWIII be far behind?" Why would the Spanish influenza of 1918 be resurrected from frozen bodies in the arctic and the DNA sequence made available on the Internet? That's why I think a deadly virus of some sort is coming, maybe one virus or maybe many and all over the earth. Seems fantastic? What if it isn't? Get yourself a copy of Triage by Leonard C. Lewin. He predicted this kind of mass killing by a combination of state and business working together. Isn't that what we have here in the U.S., Mussolini's corporate state? The fact that this book created a gigantic reaction at the time of publication(1970) meant to me that Lewin was on to something and "they" were panicking. I remember Margaret Atwood on an American right wing channel talking about her near-futuristic book The Handmaid's Tale. If those three triple-chinned, screeching men had had knives, they would have killed her right on TV. That told me she was really on to something too, and they wanted her to shut up ASAP. Do you think the Canadian medical system would be possible today? I'm shocked that it even was allowed to happen. "We're not in Kansas, Toto."
..........We're living in what James Howard Kunstler calls The Long Emergency: The Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-first Century. These guys are clearly aware of how fragile life with a capital "L" is now and how it will be even more so in the future. This is how I see their response to the above mentioned macro-crises emerging world-wide. A demand destruction of 90% or more of humanity would, within a matter of mere days, solve many problems: global warming, a dramatic decline in resource demands, a frightened population that would welcome the slave state if they could simply live and be protected from the invisible enemies—plague, climate chaos, declining resources that would include food and water.
..........No matter whether global warming is caused by mankind or by the sun getting hotter, the temperature is rising, and if it either can't be stopped or the Mad Hatters in charge don't want to stop it, billions of lowlanders in places like Bangladesh, Holland, New York City, Argentina, and elsewhere are going to have internally-generated populations of climate change refugees, as either the waters rise, flooding them out, or the rivers dry up due to the total loss of glacier ice for the normal summer melt water, creating deadly droughts. Eighty percent of the glaciers world-wide are shrinking at an alarmingly rapid rate. A controlled massive die-off of humanity would, once again, solve lots of problems, including those climate change refugees left homeless. I can even see the refugees shouting "Katrina! Katrina! Katrina!" like Al Pacino shouting "Attica! Attica! Attica!"—all on deaf ears as the latest technology is used to vaporize them. Kunstler is predicting a very ugly future ahead that will make George W. look like a Boy Scout failing to earn a merit badge.
..........I'm not saying this is how our end will come. I'm just saying it seems like a serious possibility, a very ugly and history-altering one at that. Genghis Kahn is alleged to have massacred the entire population of Beijing. He simply rode north until there was no Great Wall and then sacked the city at will. How many humans were living in that city is unknown to me, but I would guess maybe even a million. History is filled with mass murders. Possibly some never even made the history books. We are the offspring of the survivors that were forced to swim in seas of blood. We've been fooled that we are somehow different because we've had such a long period of stability. Are we unique, or are we just living in a dream world like those citizens of Beijing, resting calmly behind their "wall"?
..........We've totally lost all possible control of our governments and thus our lives. Monstrous spiders wove a web around us as we watched helplessly under a hypnotic spell, delivered by our parents, reinforced by our school peers, the school system itself, and by the Telescreen. Now we're at the mercy of a psychopathic state spider about to deliver the deadly bite, and psychopathic state-spidermen have no mercy, only cold, calculating plans to fulfill in the name of their benefit alone. Remember that 1984 line from Orwell—that the Proles would need only shake like a horse freeing itself from flies in order to free themselves from Big Brother. But they won't. Orwell wasn't just prescient, he was a seer of our inevitable destiny. We have arrived. Woe be unto us.
