Part One: ..........First, the reading. When you click here, you'll be taken to "GlobalResearch.ca," one of the most valuable of research and reporting sites available to anyone today on world issues in general, and certainly on world issues since the collapse of the U.S.S.R. Michel Chossudovsky himself, the main force behind the site (read here about GlobalResearch.ca) is author of the very great book that I wrote about earlier, namely, the invaluable, in fact essential, America's "War on Terrorism." ..........When you reach the site, you'll find a piece of military analysis by Colonel Sam Gardiner (USAF, Retired). Its title is "Iran: Pieces in Place for Escalation," and I'm proposing it as the first step—the "Reading"—in this three-part "Food for Thought." ..........Needless to say, Colonel Gardiner's words clarify the immediacy and the graveness of the danger we are now all in. Fully aware of the extremity of that danger, Michel Chossudovsky himself prefaces the colonel's words with an "editorial note" of his own. You can read it on his site, or, if you prefer, you can read it here first, a guide as to what must be done if we are to save ourselves from absolutely certain wreckage: ..........EDITORIAL NOTE ....................The following text by Colonel Sam Gardiner (USAF, Retired) confirms our worst ..........fears. The US is in an advanced state of readiness to wage war on Iran. ....................To reverse the tide requires a massive campaign of networking and outreach to ..........inform people across the land, nationally and internationally, in neighborhoods, work- ..........places, parishes, schools, universities, municipalities, on the dangers of a US spon- ..........sored war, which contemplates the use of nuclear weapons. The message should ..........be loud and clear: It is not Iran which is a threat to global security but the United States ..........of America and Israel. Even without the use of nukes, the proposed aerial bombard- ..........ments could result in escalation, ultimately leading us into a broader war in the ..........Middle East. ....................Debate and discussion must also take place within the Military and Intel- ..........ligence community, particularly with regard to the use of tactical nuclear weapons, ..........within the corridors of the US Congress, in municipalities and at all levels of gov- ..........ernment. ....................Ultimately, the legitimacy of the political and military actors in high office ..........must be challenged. ....................The corporate media also bears a heavy responsibility for the cover-up ..........of US sponsored war crimes. It must also be forcefully challenged for its ..........biased coverage of the Middle East war. What is needed is to break the con- ..........spiracy of silence, expose the media lies and distortions, confront the crim- ..........inal nature of the US Administration and of those governments which support ..........it, its war agenda as well as its so-called "Homeland Security agenda" which ..........has already defined the contours of a police State. ....................The World is at the crossroads of the most serious crisis in modern ..........history. The US has embarked on a military adventure, "a long war", which ..........threatens the future of humanity. ....................It is essential to bring the US war project to the forefront of political ..........debate, particularly in North America and Western Europe. Political and ..........military leaders who are opposed to the war must take a firm stance, from ..........within their respective institutions. Citizens must take a stance individually ..........and collectively against war. ........................................—Michel Chossudovsky, Global Research, 16 January 2007 ........................................—Click here for the Colonel Gardiner piece. Part Two: ..........A NOTE: ..........You'll remember Randall Tillotson as the winner of our first contest, and you'll also remember Clifford Moravetz, who wrote so thoughtfully on our old and original "Food for Thought-One." Now, those two writers have come together—in the form of an email from Randall Tillotson. Tillotson begins by agreeing with one of Clifford Moravetz's central points, and vividly explaining why. He then goes on to disagree with another Moravetzian point—and goes on again, even more vividly, to tell us why. In so doing, he's not so far from Colonel Gardiner, as you'll see: Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 From: rotillotson@sbcglobal.net Subject: Re: Food for Thought 1A To: Eric Larsen ericlarsen@ericlarsen.net ..........I don't find it unusual that Clifford V. Moravetz ". . . didn't wake up intellectually until some time after college." Frankly, both John Taylor Gatto and Neill of the famous British boarding school Summerhill support the concept in that old saw from the Orient, "When the student is ready, the master will appear." Up until the age of thirty, I had only read one book, and that took me close to nine months to finish. After the age of thirty, and I remember it well, I was in Banyon books in Vancouver, British Columbia. I was cruising all the aisles and reading all the titles—like a bloodhound that is on a scent trail but doesn't know to what that scent is attached. Suddenly, I pointed at Thoreau's Life Without Principle, Walden, and Civil Disobedience in one book. After reading these essays, I was hooked on lifelong learning in every sense. I was a man possessed and still am. Why at thirty and not sooner? I can't say and, trust me, I've tried to understand it. When I read Summerhill by Neill, and then Gatto's writings, it began to make sense that I simply hadn't been ready. As Gatto says, "Once a student is ready to learn reading and writing, it only takes a short time to learn." The key is "being ready to learn." This made more sense to me when, at age forty, I returned to Community College to enter a program of two years, then to transfer to a University for years three and four. My GPA in high school, when I barely graduated, was 1.75. When I quit the Community college program, my grade point average was 3.85. I can't think of any other explanation than what Gatto and Neill propose. ..........Moravetz says, "It just seems a stretch to believe there's a conspiracy on the part of government and industry that has turned us into what we are today." That sentiment is exactly what the Masters of the Universe want us to believe. Just think of the emerging criticism of Noam Chomsky of late as being as being a Gatekeeper, really a "Controlled asset of the New World Order." Tell this to his "Lefty" worshipers (I've tried, unsuccessfully) and they will act as though you are an atheist attacking the Pope. I don't think we can really understand just how ensnared we are by the many layers of the tangled web of lies that have been woven around us, but the veils of those lies, it seems to me, are falling away faster now than I could have imagined. ..........We have to keep in mind this quote from Thomas Hardy: "If a path to the better there be, it begins with a full look at the worst." That "worst" may be just exactly what Gatto is chronicling for us, that long-ago early part of the twentieth century when rich white men began a great human experiment to keep large masses of humans controlled, evolving to you and me today. In the beginning, when Henry Ford began his assembly line, he couldn't keep the workers he employed any longer than a couple of weeks. These were people from the land, operating on nature's time, not clock time. Even when he doubled their wages, it didn't help. They still quit. (For a great essay on this very subject, by Matthew B. Crawford, look here —EL.) What are called "Human Resources" today (that'd be us), Ford recognized, needed to be mentally conditioned to accept their slavery as machines, animated robots, for his business empire. It's been a long process and quite successful. The fact that this has been going on under the radar for nearly a century reminds me of the concept of "plausible deniability." I personally think that limited thinking is what's our real enemy today. And so we've got to imagine that the worst in everything may be our reality, unless proven otherwise. ..........What about this: We are told that the United States is the "Greatest military power in world history." OK. But when you read these two articles from the online Asia Times about U.S. vulnerability to attack and subversion—Part 1 here and Part 2 here —you might begin to doubt we're so "Great." What if our overpowering military strength is just another "Big Lie?" What if we're really just sitting ducks? Is it possible that we're drowning in a world of lies that could have our termination project printed all over them? These two Asian Times articles, written by Victor N Corpus, a retired Philippine Brigadier General educated in American universities, tells us that China has a strategy of "Asymmetrical Warfare." Instead of attacking our military strong points, attacks might be made against our many weaknesses, and there are many. According to General Corpus, for example, an "EMP [Electro-Magnetic Pulse] attack delivered from a high altitude "over [the] central United States (Omaha, Nebraska) can blanket the whole continental US with electro-magnetic pulse in less than one second." Such an event, he goes on ..................... . .will damage all electrical grids on the US mainland. It will disable computers ....................and other similar electronic devices with microchips. Most businesses and in- ....................dustries will shut down. The entire US economy will practically grind to a halt. ....................Satellites within line of sight of the EMP burst will also be damaged, adversely ....................affecting military command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, ....................surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR). Land-based intercontinental ballistic ....................missiles will be rendered unserviceable in their silos. Anti-ballistic missile de- ....................fenses will suffer the same fate. In short-total blackout. And American society ....................as we know it will be thrown back to the Dark Ages. ..........Vulnerability of that kind could render our nuclear deterrent impotent, sitting in silos unable to launch. If that happened, I once proposed at a forum on nuclear war, then China and Russia wouldn't need to bombard us with their nukes as others were certain would happen. Why would they destroy all this prime real estate with nuclear contamination that could also eventually poison themselves? Why not, through the (Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a trade and military alliance between China, Russia, and certain Asian and Middle Eastern countries), use all available ships and launch an invasion of North America to finish our military threat, permanently? China has available a three-million-man army. It doesn't take a military strategist to see that they could invade and conquer us, bringing an end to our "leaders'" PNAC-domination project for the world. ..........Besides, we had our chance, as Corpus points out, to make use of "soft power" in order to heal the world and bring it together. "[In] the critical years after 1991," he writes, "America had to make a choice between two divergent approaches to the use of its almost unlimited power: soft power or hard power. The exercise of soft power would have seen America leading the world in the fight against poverty, disease, drugs, environmental degradation, global warming and other ills plaguing humankind." ..........But of course that's not what happened—the gang of neocons already had its eye on nothing less than grabbing up all it could get from a resource-diminishing world, throwing around all the thuggish "hard power" it could get hold of, with 9/11 as a late trigger. Here's Corpus again: ....................When the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1991, it would have been the best time ..........for the US to use soft power to win over Russia into the Western fold. Russia at that ..........time was an economic basket case, with the price of oil at $9 per barrel. But the pro- ..........mises of economic assistance from the US and Europe proved empty, and the Rus- ..........sian oligarchs were the main beneficiaries of relations with the Western powers. ....................NATO and EU then slowly advanced eastward, absorbing many of the coun- ..........tries making up the former Warsaw Pact alliance. Serbia, a close ally of Russia, was ..........subjected to 78 days of continuous air bombardment. Regime changes were insti- ..........gated by US and Western-financed non-governmental organizations in Georgia, ..........Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan—all former Soviet republics and considered Russia's back- ..........yard—giving Russia a feeling of strategic encirclement by the US and its allies. ..........There was also the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, followed by the establish- ..........ment of US bases and deployment of troops in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. ....................These aggressive geopolitical moves by the US pushed Russia into the ..........waiting arms of China, which badly needed Russian energy resources, modern ..........weapon systems and military technology as a consequence of the US-led arms ..........embargo imposed after the Tiananmen incident. Furthermore, China also ..........needed a reliable and militarily capable ally in Russia because of the perceived ..........threat of the US. ..........And, now that we've turned fascist and poisoned our image and poisoned our welcome everywhere, wouldn't the rest of the world love the Chinese and Russians for smashing us? Imagine a twenty-first century Potsdam, where world leaders—not from our country and not from other western countries—decide how they're going to divide up the North America continent. It would be a conference where the conquerors of us would decide what patch of real estate goes to whom. What Chinese person living in Shanghai wouldn't want to live in my house in the relative warm and sparsely populated Central Coast of California? China needs lebensraum. And what about me? Why, I could easily see myself either killed outright, along with many millions of other stunned American sheep, or I could be enslaved and worked to death. Remember, FEMA and other "camps" are waiting to house someone, and it could be you and me. It's just that the "Bosses" might be a foreign occupation force. Impossible? Best is to take Thomas Hardy's advice and try imagining the worst in everything, even this horror. We must study history, something we have long stopped doing, most Americans not even studying the history of 9/11. Other than that, we're no different from any other age. It's just that we have had an extremely long period of calm in this country that may end very suddenly—for obvious reasons—and I for one suspect that it will. And I fear, unfortunately, that I may even live to see it. Randall M. Tillotson Los Osos, California Part Three: TO THE READER: ..........I offer you here five of the many letters I've received from Randall Tillotson. They'll give you some further idea of how enormously interesting a person he is and, as you already know from "Part Two" above, how intellectually curious, alert, and ambitious he is. The letters will also give you an idea of Randall's perception of the unspeakable danger we're now in. His words make me feel an uncontainably pressing urgency to do something—and then the feeling is followed invariably by the terrible question that's ever quick on urgency's heels: But what? ..........But what? Grotesque words. Grotesque times. A nation blind and asleep, waiting for the razor about to slice deep across its throat, not even knowing that the executioner's arm is already raised. I weep-with rage, sorrow, despair—and yet always with the need to do something. .......... "Nothing can stop the criminal Bush from instituting wider war in the Middle East that could become a catastrophic world war except an unequivocal statement from Congress that he will be impeached." ..........Thus—correctly—writes Paul Craig Roberts, whom we'll meet again in the next "Food for Thought." Roberts is a great man to rally behind. And yet the only way to join him is first to bring down these, the quislings and traitors who would prefer to cast us into ruin, guilt, and flame than to do the right thing and, by impeachment, bring life back into a government that now betrays us all by acting only in the name of profit and of death. ........................................................................................................................—EL ........................................................................................................................—1/17/2007 .......... .......... 1) Date: Sat, 13 Jan 2007 From: rotillotson@sbcglobal.net Subject: A good website on 9/11 To: ericlarsen@ericlarsen.net .......... I heard about this website while listening to Kevin Barrett's program today. It looks interesting. He had Barbara Honegger on, and she has a white paper that is available at this site (I haven't read it yet) that you are able to read if you scroll down to her bio and link to it from there. What I find interesting is that this site is filled with military personnel who believe that 9/11 is an inside job. I didn't realize that there were that many people in the military that were hip. I will check it out tomorrow. ..........Up late. Reading Virginia Woolf's The Waves and finding it most interesting, after figuring out her different style. Heard about it in a biography that I read in a used book store last week. I'd never heard of this book before. Read To the Lighthouse and was blown away by it, but that was it. I have missed the rest of her works, unfortunately, but I intend to make up for lost time. I have a lot to catch up on. I hope I can live long enough to sample the best of our language. I feel I have cheated myself, but I didn't know until the last few years that I was. It's aggravating to the nines. ..........You know, one time I heard a genius of the English language on the TV program Nightline. It was the editor of a leading newspaper in Oakland, California, who just happened to be a black man. Even Ted Koppel noted that he "waxed eloquently." What a treasure to be in the presence of a person who can paint like an old master from Europe with their words. That is truly a gift that few will ever be granted. It poured out of him like a cornucopia. To hear a person like that is one of those little gifts we get in life that at the time seem insignificant, but really brand us forever. ..........That's it for now, ..........RT .......... 2) Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 From: rotillotson@sbcglobal.net Subject: Possible bad file from Project Censored To: ericlarsen@ericlarsen.net Hi Eric, ..........I tried yesterday and today to print the pdf paper (Global Dominance Group) mentioned in the article "US Electromagnetic Weapons and Human Rights" which printed fine. It takes over an hour to load to my printer either from the stored file on my hard drive or directly from the site, and when it prints, it's just a black blur. If you haven't tried to print it, you may want to wait or if it looks like it's going real slow, stop your printer and delete it. It will open on the drive to read from the screen which is what I'm going to do. It also appears to be the cause for my computer locking up twice, causing me to reboot to clear it. I did two virus scans from two different programs, but it's clean. So I'm going to email them about it later. ..........That email from Carolyn Baker with the retired Lt. Colonel seems very ominous. I don't know if it was written before or after the news came out about the 24 fighter jets, in-flight fueling tanker, and AWACS plane that recently arrived in Turkey, but instead of Bulgaria, this might be the place they are going to launch one of the 10,000 targets that I've read about. Bulgaria would be a fool to let them launch an attack from their country because of a possible counter attack, especially from Russia. So in any event, it looks like it will really be time to worry after February. Another strategist from one of the corporate think tanks has said practically the same thing—the earliest will be February and no later than August. ..........Bearing that in mind, I'm keeping my grab-and-go stuff, except for the gas cans, in the trunk to allow for a faster getaway if it comes to that. I want to live and cheat these bastards. ..........Raymond Carver's "What the Doctor Said," comes to mind a lot lately: ....................He said it doesn't look good ....................he said it looks bad in fact real bad ....................he said I counted thirty-two of them on one lung before ....................I quit counting them ....................I said I'm glad I wouldn't want to know ....................any more being there than that ....................he said are you a religious man do you kneel down ....................in forest groves and let yourself ask for help ....................when you come to a waterfall ....................mist blowing against your face and arms ....................do you stop and ask for understanding at those moments ....................I said not yet but I intend to start today ....................he said I'm real sorry he said ....................I wish I had some other kind of news to give you ....................I said Amen and he said something else ....................I didn't catch and not knowing what else to do ....................and not wanting him to have to repeat it ....................and me to have to fully digest it ....................I just looked at him ....................for a minute and he looked back it was then ....................I jumped up and shook hands with this man who'd just given me ....................something no one else on earth had ever given me ....................I may even have thanked him habit being so strong ..........In case the worst happens, I want you to know that I feel grateful knowing you for this short time, even in this alienating and atomizing digital way. It's like we're old friends that got separated during the war and mysteriously stumbled across each other. I've been thinking that I may fly to Ithaca in the spring to check it out. They have an active re-localization group there, and I'd like to check out Tomkins county. It might be culture shock, though, but I do like the idea of living near a university. If I go, I'll try to buzz down to the Big Apple and maybe I can buy you a glass or two of your favorite intoxicating beverage. I also have a cousin on L.I. and if she's still alive, I would like to look her up. This all hinges on whether or not we're under martial law, which an Iranian/Syrian/American/Israeli/Lebanese war will surely cause. Inter-state travel may be rendered impossible due to government restrictions. We'll just have to wait and see how attractive or repulsive the carpet of the future will be as it rolls out before us. Anyhow, that's it for now. All the best, RT .......... 3) Date: Mon, 15 Jan From: rotillotson@sbcglobal.net Subject: From the land of the three monkeys, blind, deaf, and dumb To: ericlarsen@ericlarsen.net Hi Eric, ..........First, I didn't get your email about getting more material up on your site. I'll check the site after this. The book Biowarfare and Terrorism is going to shock you. If I remember correctly, even the EPA has a grant for bioweapons research. This is totally in violation of all treaties and our own laws. Boyle draws the conclusion that with that much activity going on, they will be using them. Remember what Rosalie Bertell says about chemtrails. This is a quote from the Snowshoe Films site on her. "Most people have noticed chemtrails, because it's not natural to have something criss-crossing in your sky. Dr. Bertell (Ph.D., biometrics) offers several explanations, including her own: 'I think they're also a carrier for all kinds of biological and chemical warfare. I don't think they're dropping them on us right now, but they seem to be preparing. I think they're getting people used to seeing these things, and they're getting the military used to doing it. So they're practicing.' Dr. Bertell also touches on what some government workers (e.g., Oak Ridge nuclear plant) are told about chemtrails: a) they're combating global warming via spraying populated areas with aerosolized metals; b) aerial pharmacopeia (pollution modification). The official story, though, is denial." ..........As for Boyle's book, Destroying World Order, I would say that it probably isn't necessary to get it. Chapter one outlines the history of the international legal term "neutrality" and its history of failure, and the transition to the United Nations. After that he outlines several legal cases against the U.S. government, including writing the impeachment document for both Bush presidents. There are more pressing things to be doing right now, as you well know. ..........I read Paul Craig Roberts' article that you mentioned as well as this one today. ..........I included the Bilderberg link so you could have it if you needed it for research. I'd never heard of before now. ..........To the Lighthouse held me like a tractor beam holds a space ship in Star Trek. After I finished the last page, it was like you could almost hear the sound of a cork popping as it first comes out of a wine bottle "Pop!" One of the best novels I've read for sure. After The Waves it's on to A Writer at War. ..........As far as the Gatekeepers go, first, let me say that Goodman et al very well could be paid CIA, FBI, or Mossad assets. I got a funding request from Democracy Now! just before Christmas, along with Free Speech TV and Paper Tiger TV because I used to support all three. Well, I looked at the picture of the staff at Democracy Now! in the request, and I counted over twenty people. Now that takes a huge amount of capital just to simply make the payroll for these people, besides the rest of the overhead. There is no damn way that listeners' donations could be maintaining this huge expense. I estimated that it would take at least $800,000 to $1 million per annum just to fund the wages of that crowd at a minimum of $15.00 per hour with 2080 hours in a year, and that didn't include benefits. My guess is that the Ford and other foundations as funders are red herrings. I believe the real money comes via CIA drug money or right out of our pockets in direct but hidden government funding—the black budget stuff. As for these three organizations, I sent them all a nasty letter, via the postal system. Paper Tiger is the worst. They are definitely NOT activists when you see that their videos cost between $140 and nearly $200!!! Their material is just fluff, nothingness stuff. You don't charge exorbitant prices and expect to reach the masses. They're obviously total fakes. When I see the word "collective" in their name, I see U.S. Government written all over it. With my experience at the cooperative radio station in Canada, I believe that these organizations have a secondary function which is the gathering names of supporters to be put on the dreaded "lists." ..........Chomsky is in a category all by himself. If we think of the hard-core members of the Catholic church and, say, one day it comes out that the Pope is a pedophile, well, the denial would be tremendous. It wouldn't fit the image. Forgive, forgive, forgive, like the Jimmy Swaggarts and all. My soon to be ex-wife couldn't believe that Chomsky is a fraudster. I gave her Zwicker's book, just for her to read the chapter on him. I haven't heard back on that subject. I was at an alternative energy festival in Northern California this year. I got an updated chart on peak oil called The Oil Age. OK. I figured that this guy selling these would be open to the criticism of Chomsky and Goodman, and Zwicker's book was for sale just about 100 feet away. "No way," he said, and, as they say on Star Trek, "Full shields, Scotty, full shields." I teetered on the razor's edge about even buying the Zwicker book for him, but then figured that he wouldn't or, more likely, couldn't read it. Is it any different than the Brits with the Queen? Blind devotion. ..........I still say that this quote fits Chomsky to a "T": ...................."If you give a man the correct information for seven years, he may believe ..........the incorrect information on the first day of the eighth year when it is necessary, ..........from your point of view, that he should do so. Your first job is to build the cred- ..........ibility and the authenticity of your propaganda, and persuade the enemy to trust ..........you although you are his enemy." A Psychological Warfare Casebook—Oper- ..........ations Research Office (Johns Hopkins University, 1958) ..........However, I personally think that the exposure of the "Liars Club members" will slowly leak in to those people who, right now, can't allow it in. They can't avoid the facts knocking on their doors forever, and over time the knocker will move from knuckles to hammers really swinging. In my own case, I got hit with peak oil, catastrophic climate change, and the possible mass murder of most of us by the state all within one year? It's not that I was in denial about it, it was that I was in shock about it and even now, three years later, am just recovering from it. If we have time, and that's the biggest question of all, time, these people will come over to the light side with us. However, these are gigantic issues, gigantic. It's truly hard to face up to these kinds of historic life-altering developments, and they are coming at us at a very fast pace with the freedom of the Internet, maybe even faster than at any period in history. I can understand why people put up their shields, but I still don't forgive them, ever. Forgiveness is a Christian trick to assuage a guilty conscience. No, the guilty need to be reminded that they are guilty forever, otherwise there are no consequences for anything. ..........Right now I'm reading Francis A. Boyle's book, Biowarfare and Terrorism. If the conclusions he's drawing are correct, the Neo-Cons are planning to use all forms of WMDs, including bio-weapons, in a WWIII scenario. Boyle even asks the question, "Can WWIII be far behind?" If you get a chance to read this book, you will see that the amount of money being spent and the vast array of organizations that are receiving money for bio-weaponry research are absolutely astounding. There is no other conclusion to draw than they plan on using these weapons, and they say so in their PNAC documents, which I have read. They have just under two years to act. That may even be why there is literally no action on climate change. If Dr. Doom's scenario plays out, then global warming will be solved in a matter of days. That's why Doom may be a front man for them, getting the ignorant collaborators "on board," so to speak. Remember, he might be dangerously crazy, but that article said that nearly 400 people gave him a standing ovation. To me that says that there were 401 totally insane people in that room, and many of them could be research scientists working on these monstrous weapons. To talk about this seems outrageous and the ravings of someone with a serious mental health problem, but Boyle seems to be the absolute barometer of sanity to me. Today, I feel like I did during the Cuban missile crisis. I clearly remember exactly where I was when, on the television, I think it was Cronkite who said, "We were eyeball to eyeball, and I think the other guy just blinked." The next 700 or so days are going to be one of those long, dragged out moments—at least for me it will. ..........If we can survive the coming cataclysm, we may get our country back. I'm ever so grateful that I can communicate with you. It's very lonely out here in the land of the blind and deaf where you can't talk about reality. ..........That's it for now. All the best to you and yours, RT .......... 4) Date: Thu, 11 Jan 2007 From: rotillotson@sbcglobal.net Subject: Democrats Beef Police State With 9/11 Commission Bill To: ericlarsen@ericlarsen.net ..........Dems Beef Police State with 9/11 Commission Bill. ..........John Dean better start writing a book called Worse Than Fascist Republicans if he wants to correctly label reality. How can any Democratic party supporter still be one, unless they are totally blind? ..........I saw a really cheaply made movie (They Live) but a very interesting one that featured a WWF wrestler, Roddy Piper—don't know much about that game. I forget the beginning, but at some point, he finds these glasses and when he puts them on, he can suddenly see that there are alien monsters that are among them. Then, at some point, he meets the underground and they all have these glasses and are giving them out to the blind so that they can see. I felt like that yesterday when I was at the grocery store. It could even be like comparing the way a very rich person views reality vs. a very poor one. Both see the same world but through their different prisms of distortion. I keep thinking how crazy I would look if, when I was in the checkout line at a grocery store, I said to the person behind me, "I guess you heard that FEMA is capable of putting as many as 8 million of us in camps like the Nazi's did." And, "Oh, by the way, did you hear what Newt Gingrich said the other day. He says that we're in WWIII, and we should start calling it that. Won't be long now. In fact, could be any day now. How are you going to flee here if the sirens sound? Have you got a Geiger counter? (There actually are sirens that get tested every six months because we get our electrons from the nuclear power plant at Diablo Canyon-five to six miles as the crow flies and, yes, I have a Geiger counter. Probably the only person with one in my town.) I never thought I'd feel like an alien in my own country. "Iran Summons Swiss, Iraqi, Diplomats." ..........Things could be spiraling out of control and very quickly. I have an escape plan. I have two five-gallon gas cans filled in the shed, plus I keep the car's gas level no lower than 3/4 full. A backpack/grab-and-go bag that has about 15 days of food, extra gallons of water, a Geiger counter, two radios—one that is also shortwave, so I can hear news from outside this country—a Red Cross radio that has a crank to charge it and my cell phone; a tent and sleeping bag. Probably, like Paul Revere, I'll get stopped by the "authorities" before I go five feet, but I got so damn nervous about living in this particular historical era that the only way I could relax was to gather all this stuff and prepare. My Red Cross radio also has a feature that will turn it on if it receives an alert from the National Weather Service. If the Emergency Alert System sounds, say, for a national emergency like "INCOMING!!!!!," the NWS is connected to that system, so I can be awakened from my sleep and start the escape. I'm sitting next to two definite targets, Diablo Canyon and Vandenberg Air Force Base, thirty-five miles south. Does this sound like a crazy man? Probably, but let's hope I'm just one of those harmless people we see babbling in the streets, talking to their "voices." ..........Nobody that I know wants to know about what's going on. How in the hell will we be able to stop this insanity? How?
